Reggie Simmons Memorial Award: Two Parkies Off to Africa

Jeff Goodwin (TVR) and Jen Nevins (Journalism) have been selected as this year's recipients of the Reggie Simmons Memorial Award, established by alumn Bob Iger in honor of his lifelong friend (and fellow IC grad), Reginald Simmons.

Simmons dedicated his life to service work in Africa, and the award therefore provides the opportunity for two Park students each year to spend six weeks in Africa during the summer, working with a service organization called Operation Crossroads Africa.

One of last year's winners, Michelle Diemer (CMD), returned home and launched a fundraising effort to buy the books to fill the library she helped build in a small African village. We managed to put the necessary resources together (thanks for your help!) and she'll be returning to Gambia after graduation to help distribute the books.

Jeff and Jen will work with the folks at Operation Crossroads to determine which country and which program will work best for them this summer.

Congratulations Jeff and Jen!
