No jobs or internships in radio?!? Ha! Just ask an alum.....


One of our most wonderful and gracious alum, Bob Kur, every year forwards a list of open positions at Bonneville International, the major radio company that owns his station (WTOP)...and believe it or not, it's that time of year again (NINE weeks left in the semester....egads!).

Here's the list.....who SAYS there are no jobs in radio? (Wrong!)


Chicago
· Sales Account Executive (WDRV, WILV, WTMX) - This is an on-going posting. We are currently accepting applications for immediate consideration. To provide a quality sales effort in maintaining, prospecting and developing local agency and new business dollars to assure annually established sales goals are met. Make a full contribution to the success of the department & station by being an effective team member.
· Sales Intern (WDRV) - Be responsible for support, development and execution for THE DRIVE fm sales efforts, reporting to the New Business Development Coordinator. Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to; pulling together research information for sales proposals, accompanying account executives on sales calls, assisting with live broadcast remotes and overall aiding in every aspect of radio sales. Internet Marketing Intern - To learn - via internship - the general functions of the Internet/Web Development sector of a radio station. We are looking for a student who is interested in a learning opportunity; where they can extend Radio Broadcasting or Web Development education beyond the classroom while gaining valuable, on-site experience in the industry. There is NO GUARANTEE OF EMPLOYMENT on completion of the program. This IS A PAID 3-6 month (possibly more) co-op position.


Los Angeles

Programming / Promotion Internship - KSWD is pleased to announce the availability of an internship in the Programming/Promotions Departments. We are looking for students who are interested in a NON-PAID learning opportunity, where they can extend their radio broadcasting education beyond the classroom. This KSWD internship is designed to provide students with a strong interest in radio broadcasting an opportunity to gain an insight into the operation of a professional radio station.


PT Promotion Assistant (Street Team) - Assist the 100.3FM The Sound Marketing/Promotion department in all areas of operation dealing with radio remotes and special projects. Videotape and edit station events, artist performances and artist interviews as needed.

The ideal candidate will also possess solid developmental skills that complement our core development team.

· On-Air Host (KPKX) - Must handle on-air jock work. Must maintain transmitter and program logs. Ensure the transmitting system is operating within parameters set by the Federal Communications Commission. Make desired individual contribution to attract targeted audience and builds ratings in line with desired format.

· Marketing Coordinator (KTAR FM, AM) - To assist stations in effectively engaging as many people in our target audience as possible (FM News/Talk 92.3 KTAR, adults 25-54; Sports 620 KTAR, men 18-34; Phoenix Arbitron market). Making interactions memorable so they will begin to listen or listen longer to the stations. Seattle

· Newsroom Internship (KIRO) - This internship is for students interested in practical experience in broadcast journalism. Intern will write stories, rewrite wire copy, learn audio recording and editing, and research stories. Intern will work with editors, reporters and other newsroom employees and receive feedback on their efforts.

· Online Content Internship (KIRO) - Bonneville Seattle is seeking applicants to be considered for an Online Content Internship. Interns will work with the web development team at MyNorthwest.com to get hands-on and substantive exposure to web writing, producing, and management. Interns will become familiar with all aspects of content production for Bonneville's three station Website (News Talk 710 KIRO and 770 KTTH) with the objective of learning how to create compelling online content. The Online Content Intern will work under the direction of content producers, management, and newsroom staff to gather, produce, and write our day-to-day online coverage. The ideal candidate will have an excellent working knowledge of the Web, impeccable news writing and publishing skills, and the highest journalistic standards.

· Board Operator (KIRO, KTTH) - To be an effective team member and make a full contribution to the success of the station by providing necessary clerical and operations assistance to assure smooth airing of station's pre-recorded and/or automated programming and to answer incoming phone calls in a professional manner.

Digital/Online Account Executive (KIRO) - Responsible for development and sales of all internet revenue opportunities, including internet radio, display ads, keywords, email marketing, sponsorships, and integration with other broadcast NTR initiatives. Work to enhance web operations; integrate internet sales with our products and on-air buys; stay current on the latest internet advertising strategies. Develop and implement advertising sales strategies with advertisers to assist them in achieving their goals by maintaining and building relationships.

Ron and Don Show Producer (KIRO) - Produce entertaining, informative programming that attracts the targeted audience and generates ratings and revenue. Must have proven track record of producing compelling topics, booking A-List guests and develop a strong working relationship with on-air host(s).

710 ESPN Interns (KIRO AM) - Performs non-complex editing assignments. Researches assigned sports information and obtains materials necessary for broadcast. May participate in developing content.

Traffic Coordinator (KIRO) - Responsible for day-to-day processing of 710 ESPN and Seattle Mariner logs to insure that all commercials are aired in accordance with Federal Communications Commission regulations, client instructions, corporate policies and procedures. To be a fully contributing member of the traffic team & factor positively to the overall success & profitability of the station.

Sports Talk Show Producer (KIRO AM) - Be an effective team member and make a full contribution to the success of 710 ESPN Seattle. Produce entertaining and informative programming that gives listeners the inside information on sports in Seattle. Maintain up to date information on MyNorthwest.com and work to integrate the radio show and web site that brings listeners to the radio station and drives traffic to the web site. Work effectively with on-air host(s) to develop a compelling daily show that generates ratings and revenue.

PT Promotion Assistant - News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM, 710 ESPN Seattle and 770 KTTH The Truth are accepting applications for dependable, fun, outgoing individuals for part-time Promotion Assistant positions. Promotion Assistants work directly with the promotions department.


St. Louis

On-Call On-Site Event Coordinator (Street Team) - Assist the Bonneville St. Louis Radio Group Marketing/Promotion department in all areas of operation dealing with radio remotes and special projects.

Promotion Director - To be an effective team member and assure Marketing Department makes its full contribution to the achieved goals and objectives. Help conceptualize, develop and effectively execute results-oriented marketing plans, advertising strategies and creative platforms for promotions for Bonneville St. Louis Radio Group, with an emphasis on 101.1 Sports designed to: (a) increase audience rating and market share; (b) enhance the image and reputation of the Bonneville St. Louis Radio Group stations in the community. Manage the day-to-day details and executive marketing and programming vision and strategy.

Sports Rams Gameday Studio Host (WXOS) - Be an effective team member and make a full contribution to the success of the station. Work as a studio host for Rams pre-game and post-game shows. Candidate will provide scoring updates during Rams game broadcast. Candidate will make audio cuts back in the studio relevant for post-game show as well as attend sales calls with clients to engage them in the benefits of being involved in Rams radio. Sports Rams Gameday Reporter / Host (WXOS) - Be an effective team member and make a full contribution to the success of the station. Candidate must have the ability to work the locker room after the game and secure interviews with key players involved in the game's outcome. Candidate will host/co-host the Rams pre-game show, provide weekly call-ins during the Ram's season and host a specialty show on 101 ESPN including Rams Rush Hour. Perform live field reports, with proficient ad lib skills, and the ability to use natural and ambient sound in field reports. Sports Executive Producer (WXOS) - Function as the executive producer for Rams radio broadcast including pre-game, in-game and post-game.

Board Operator - Make desired individual contribution to Station's team efforts to provide a product that reflects the station's format philosophy and that will effectively serve the station's targeted audience and garner sufficient ratings to meet station's short and long term strategic goals.

Remote Technician - To be an effective team member and assure the Engineering Department makes its full contribution to the achieved goals and objectives of Bonneville St. Louis Media Group. Set up and operate audio and remote broadcast equipment including microphones, speakers, wires and cables, sound and mixing boards and related electronic equipment for remote broadcasts, sporting events, meetings and news conferences. May also set up any other associated equipment including but not limited to satellite uplinks, microwave RPU's and IP codec based remote broadcast equipment. A working knowledge of computers is very helpful. This position will require candidate to have the ability to load, drive, unload and set up a broadcast remote.


Washington D.C.

· Sales Associate (WTOP) - The Sales Associate will participate in a 6-9 month sales training program. During this training period, the Sales Associate will focus 1/3 of his/her time on clerical duties, 1/3 on sales tasks, and 1/3 on sales account development.

· Account Manager (WTOP) - Be an effective sales team member and make a full contribution to the team's growth, professionalism, and espirt de corp; effectively service clients and meet their needs; consistently achieve or exceed assigned sales/revenue goals; follow company policies and procedures; and project desired company image.
