The New York State Associated Press Broadcasters has named ICTV's story on the St. Patrick's Day 4 trial as the best news story of the year, and

Newswatch's December 1, 2005 broadcast as the best local newscast of the year.

Guess who got honorable mention?

The Word from Paris

Greetings,

We just got word that the 20 students who won the free trip to France this summer have arrived in Dijon -- after 20 hours of travel -- and have settled into their lodging. The ten-day itinerary includes a tour of the United Nations in Geneva; a three-day visit to Paris (for cooking lessons, among other things!); visits to newspapers, radio stations, and television stations; and lectures by experts in European culture and politics.

Wish I were there....

And the good news is, we'll be holding an annual drawing for Park students who want to participate in the trip....so maybe next year will be your turn!

A full-time PAID internship this summer at AOL? are you kidding?

Yes, it's true.

David Lebow, one of the Park School's most amazing alumni, is looking for a Park student intern this summer. It's in NYC, it's paid (40 hours a week), and last year's intern got to ride in AOL Time-Warner's private jet, had backstage tickets to Live Aid, and had more adventures than....well, than most of us did. Lebow is the executive vice president of AOL Media Networks; he's in charge of generating content and revenue, and the internship is basically serving as an assistant in his office.

If you're interested, you need to get me a copy of your resume and a cover letter, describing why you're the best candidate, by FRIDAY at 9 a.m.

Wish I could apply.....

Adam Shepherd wins Metcalf Diversity Award

The Rhode Island for Community & Justice (RICJ) last week announced the winners of its annual Metcalf Diversity in the Media Awards. The awards were presented at a ceremony on the morning of April 25, 2006.

Among the recipients was Park's own Adam Shepherd, who wrote last summer for the Press & Weekly newspaper in Rhode Island. His story, “Homophobia 101”, covered the struggles of gay and lesbian youth and support available through Youth Pride.

Congratulations, Adam!
